Barnsley business park now fully occupied

Priority Space’s new Barnsley business park, built on a former colliery site which had laid empty for more than 20 years, is now fully occupied by local businesses.

The sale of the final 1,750 sq ft unit at Barrowfield Business Park has been secured by Commercial Property Partners.

This completes purchases and lets of all 15 high-spec industrial and warehousing units at the £3 million business park, developed with HG Sites.

The development is in Thurnscoe in the Barnsley borough on the site of the former Hickleton Colliery which closed in 1988.

It was delivered with support from Sheffield City Region’s Jessica Urban Development Fund and Barnsley Metropolitan District Council, to support the local area’s economic regeneration.

Lee Buchanan, Director of Priority Space, said: “It is great news that all units at this new Barnsley business park are now taken. It's such a good location with fantastic connections and we wish all good luck to the businesses on site.”

Ranging in size from 1,250 up to 2,500 sq. ft, the units were available to purchase by way of a new, long leasehold interest of 250 years.

Max Pickering, Surveyor at CPP, said: “We are delighted that the units at Barrowfield Business Park have proved to be so popular, with most letting within the first three months on the market, reflecting current demand for warehousing and its location within a prime commuter spot.”

CPP Assistant Surveyor Chloé Bennett said: “This scheme has been an exciting project to be part of, from planning to delivery – and now the final unit sale.”

Barrowfield Business Park is located within easy reach of the A1(M) and M1 and provides a total of 25,000 sq. ft of light commercial, storage and logistics space.

The units are finished with a mono, pitched steel frame construction and factory-finished metal cladding roof system, with 10 per cent roof lights complete with angled fascia and soffits. All are fully insulated and have achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ status.

They feature disabled toilets, kitchenette areas and dedicated car parking bays with electric charging points and cycle parking. The business park has gated access and external lighting – as well as superfast fibre broadband across the site.
